Construction & Installation: The Building Process
This is the physical execution phase, where the design plans are brought to life, focusing on structural integrity and coastal resilience.
01
Site Mobilization & Prep:
-
Secure permits and coordinate logistics (material deliveries, equipment scheduling via ferry).
-
The site is cleared, protected, and initial rough grading is performed to establish basic contours.
02
Infrastructure & Drainage:
-
Installation of essential underground utilities, including irrigation lines, lighting conduit, and most importantly, the Nantucket-specific drainage systems (dry wells, swales) needed to manage water runoff in sandy soil.
03
Hardscaping Base Laying:
-
Excavation and preparation of the sub-base for patios, walkways, and walls to ensure long-term stability and prevent shifting in the sandy terrain.
04
Softscape Installation:
-
Soil amendment is performed to improve the poor native soil structure.
-
Plants, trees, and sod are delivered and installed according to the landscape plan.

05
Final Touches & Walkthrough:
-
Installation of final details like mulch, decorative stone, and landscape lighting.
-
A final walkthrough with the client to ensure satisfaction and provide initial care instructions.
